The South-East Society League - July 13th Stapleford Abbotts
 
Our 4th match & at last our 1st victory, played at Stapleford Abbotts in glorious conditions. Apart
from Chris Roberts big 6 & 4 win & Paul Stewart winning by default the remaining 4 matches were
close affairs & no closer than the match between Steve Hale & Martin Shaw. They halved their
match, but both played out of their skins to record scores of  82 & 81 respectively. Mark Johnson
notched his 1st win with a 3 &1 result & Fozzie came back from 5 down after 5 to clinch a win on
the 18th.

June 22nd  Weald Park GC, Brentwood
Another league match, and surprise, surprise another league defeat !!!
What was particuarlly disappointing was the late withdrawals, & unwillingness of others to make the
effort & turn out. We have now forfeited 6 pts through no shows, but more importantly we are letting
down our opponents.
If when the fixtures are everyone could make a note it would make things far easier.
Anyway back to the game as it was our home fixture we decided to go back to Weald Park.With the
weather warm & course in good condition we were in for a good days golf. Steve Pattison can count
himself unlucky to lose by 1 hole even though he lost the last 3 !!!! Old Red was well in with a chance
until the back nine, Paul Stewart got the bad draw & played an 13 h'capper in good form & Fozzie
played to his h'cap for about the 1st time this year to avoid a whitewash.

May 31st The golfbidder.co.uk South-East Society League
The end of May saw another round of league matches played, and with a couple of changes The
Hackers made a minor improvement v The Park Royals at Mill Green GC, Welwyn Garden City.
With the course being in good condition & the weather even nicer it all boded well for a great
afternoon, until we started playing !!!! Special mention must go to Razor & Jack for winning both their
matches 4 & 3, but it was also disappointing to field only 5 men instead of the allowed 6. 
The Hackers are now neck & neck for the wooden spoon with The Wessex GS who to Rye House
9-3 at The Hertfordshire GC.

April 12-13th 2003
Well after much planning from The Wessex GS' Scott Vass the South East Matchplay League finally
 teed off at Stapleford Abbotts Priors course.
Played between home side The Wessex GS  & Edgware based Park Royals GS, the opening fixture
 ended in a resounding 9-3 victory for the Royals.
The following day saw the match between The Hackers v The Rye House GS  take place. Played on
 the Abbotts Course at Stapleford Abbotts.
The conditions were perfect for golf although windy in certain areas of the course. Unfortunately though,
 The Hackers golf was'nt in such good condition !!!
The final result of 10-2 in favour of Rye House was about the best we could manage with only Alan
Johnson winning his game 4 & 3. Paul Stewart was unlucky though to lose his 1st round since
November on the 18th green.
With our next match 31st May, The Hackers will be looking for more improvement, and the return of
Russ, Razor,Jack & Wilse to strengthen the team.
